Cwm Hedd Lakes Weekend 2013
A fantastic weekend at Cwm Hedd Lakes again brought together by Ronnie. The weekend of activities included for the children coaching, games on the water, archery, fishing, bush craft, fire lighting, camping, races, rain, certificates and medals. A huge thank you to all the volunteers involved who made the weekend possible.
The children and adults had a fab time trying out the Sup boards that were kindly supplied by the Canoe and Kayak Store. The children also enjoyed paddling the raft that was supplied by Cardiff International White Water. The kayaks and canoes were a great success but without the help of the parents and volunteers there would not have been enough to go around, so thank you for bringing them down and taking them back. The children had an opportunity to try archery with Ryan from Wye Valley Archery who was brilliant. The children also had a try at fishing and were very excited when they actually caught something. Mark Oakey excelled himself organising mallet making with the children and then later on made bread using a Dutch oven. Kate Wacey organised the fire lighting and this was just Saturday.
In the evening Stuart White from Cardiff Canoe Club became head chef and produced an outstanding Hog Roast which will be hard to follow next year!
Sunday was a day of competitions and considering the change in weather was enjoyed by all. A big thank you to Alan Baker for organising the activities and all the safety people who without them these activities could not have happened.
